THE TRIP THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Wednesday, September 18

What a beautiful morning.  The sun is shining brightly and it is a little cool this morning, but they say it wil get to about 70 later today.  After breakfast we got with our neighbors, Earl and Eunice, and made a trip back to Montreal to visit the Montreal Botanical Gardens.
Earl and Eunice are from Maryland.  He is retired from the Department of Defense, and she is a retired Latin/English teacher.

Our drive into Montreal was good the first several kilometers, but then construction and traffic slowed things down.  It took about 30 minutes to get to our exit.  Then we missed the turn and ended up going a few kilometers out of the way.  Some friendly firemen helped us get back on track and we headed down the right street.  The next problem occurred when we entered the parking lot and then saw a sign that read "Completely Full."  It was too late then and it took several minutes to get back out onto the street.  We entered the next parking lot only to run into the same problem - no empty spaces to park.  The we noticed the line to get into the Botanical Gardens.  It stretched for 50 yards or more, so we gave up on that plan.

We stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant before returning to the RV Campground.  The menus were in French, but the waitress saw the confused looks on our faces and asked if we would like English menus. That helped immensely.  Our trip to the gardens was scuttled, but we had a nice ride and enjoyed good conversation.  Thanks for the ride Earl.
